Going to work each day should not be dangerous unless you work in a job where danger is a constant. Those jobs include the emergency services, construction and some other industries. When you go to work each day, you should not worry about returning home with an injury. Today, we will discuss the five most common workplace accidents in Ohio.
Slip-and-fall accidents are by and large the most common workplace accident. This type of accident can occur at any workplace, even the ones that have the strictest safety policies in place. Employees can slip, trip or fall on cracks in the floor, carpet, debris, cords and much more.
Moving machinery also causes workplace accidents quite often. Warehouses are a dangerous place. If you aren’t paying attention, you could find yourself injured by a piece of machinery. The machinery could run you over, run into you, get stuck on your clothing and more.
Repetitive and overexertion injuries are also common in the workplace. These injuries are suffered by employees who perform the same tasks over and over again. For example, people working in a warehouse could break their arm, suffer tendinitis or even tear a muscle or tendon from repetitive motion.
It’s also not out of the realm to suffer an injury on the job due to an explosion. Explosions can occur due to poor pipefitting, gas line issues or combustible materials that are not stored properly.
Being injured on the job can put you in a precarious situation. You might find yourself out of work for an extended time. You should do everything possible to avoid accidents in the workplace, so you don’t miss time on the job in Columbus, Ohio. However, know that workers’ compensation is available to covered employees to help with medical expenses, lost wages and more.
